Celebrate Lutheran World Relief Sunday at Mt. Olive on Oct. 16 at 8:30 & 10:45 a.m.
Mt. Olive will celebrate Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Sunday on October 16th at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Chandler Carriker, Senior Manager for Constituent Engagement with Lutheran World Relief will preach during both morning worship services.
The church will bless quilts made by the Tying & Tacking Girls and special kits assembled for distribution to people who live in poverty throughout the world. The items include 95 quilts, 118 school kits, 72 personal care kits, and 7 fabric kits for sewing. The church also sent 60 quilts earlier in the year to the victims of flooding in West Virginia.
Founded by Lutherans in the United States, grounded in Lutheran theology and building on decades of experience, LWR exists so that U.S. Lutherans may serve their neighbors overseas who face poverty, injustice and human suffering.
Special music for both worship services will feature hymns and songs from Cameroon, East Africa, Ireland, Korea, Taize (France), Spain, and Brazil. Please join us for worship! Call the church at 828-324-6198 for more information.
