September 11: “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday of Service
Celebrate “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Sunday and join us for activities for people of all ages and abilities.
Holy Trinity Lutheran and Mount Olive Lutheran, Hickory will work together to enhance the community walking track and recreational space located behind Mount Olive. The outdoor track is widely used by the Hickory community for walking and running and the fields are used for sports activities by local groups. This “God’s Work, Our Hands” day of service is sponsored each year by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to celebrate our unity as church in the world. We are freed by Christ to serve and love our neighbors.
At 4 p.m., all participants will join together for worship at the outdoor worship space. Music will be led by musicians from both churches. Members of the community are invited to join us for this day of service. Please bring outdoor work gloves and tools such as saws, shovels, and wheelbarrows. For more information, please contact Heather Langan, Youth & Family Ministry Director at 828-324-6198.
Schedule for the day includes:
After worship and beginning at noon, share a potluck lunch in Heritage Hall.
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Work activities include making greeting cards, baking treats for animals in shelters, and working outside on our grounds, including the walking track used by many people in our community.
