Community Ministry

Micah’s Cupboard

Inspired by the phrase “My Innocent Children are Hungry” and Micah 6:8 this mission strives to assist the needs of local school children and their families during school breaks and vacations, plus other immediate needs identified by the church or school guidance counselors. Members can assist by providing non-perishable foods to Micah’s Cupboard or contact the church office for more ways to assist. Micah’s Cupboard is currently located in the Room 210 of the Education Building.

Mt. Olive Global Ministry Team

This team works as the Congregation’s Global ministry coordinating efforts with our global partners, such as missionaries, Young Adults in Global Missions (YAGMs), and the Lutheran Church in Malaysia (LCM), which is our partner church. Mt. Olive has a special relationship with the LCM working with the Church’s Orang Asli (native peoples) ministry. Our church has provided funds to help sponsor children’s educational endeavors and various construction projects. Mt. Olive also supports our own YAGM, Rachel Birkedal, who currently serves in Mexico. The Global Ministry Team also works with other Global ministries such as WELCA, Lutheran World Relief, World Hunger and other initiatives within the Church.

Mt. Olive Ministry Foundation, Inc.

The purpose of the Ministry Foundation is to provide Scholarships to Lutheran Education Institutions; provide Gifts to any Lutheran Agency; provide Gifts to Mt. Olive for non-budgeted items; and provide Gifts to Christian Educational Institutions. We have two sources of funds. 1) Income from our investment portfolio and 2) the members of Mt. Olive. As the “season” for donations nears, please consider the Foundation. Every dollar is well spent. You might just wish to make a donation. You may want to consider naming the Ministry Foundation as a beneficiary to your retirement plan, IRA or life insurance policy. And, there may be other options you would like to consider with your attorney or financial advisor.

Matthew 25
3rd Tuesday of April & October. One of the best ways to exhibit the love of Jesus is to spend time and listen to our homebound members’ concerns. Relationships are stregthened when we love and support one another. Caring ministry through visitation, prayer, phone calls and cards to homebound members unable to attend worship services and activities. Visits are to be made at least three times during the six months, more are encouraged. Individual teams are rotated every six months.

– Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy (Matthew 25)
